Summer 2023 Newsletter

A NOTE FROM OWNER, Matt Wilde

There is one thing for certain in New England – the weather is constantly changing.  Last year at this time we were talking about a state wide drought.  This year we are getting flood alerts from the abundance of rainfall.  My Smart controller alone had recorded 12.95″ of rainfall for July with a 72% water savings.  That is incredible!

The weather seems more seasonal now and the best time to grow grass is over the next 6 weeks. As the days start to get shorter, let’s be ready to show off your beautiful landscapes in day or night with some outdoor lighting.  Our entire season has been spent on developing best practices and training our awesome team of men and women to support all your needs in both irrigation and low voltage lighting.

Send us some pictures of your beautiful lawns , gardens and lighting and we will feature them in our future newsletters. We will also start to post some of our favorite projects from 2023 as we continue another great season.

Fall is coming and so will our now Annual FOOD DRIVE. Your support last year truly made a difference in our effort to “BLOW OUT HUNGER”.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need help with anything or are interested in some of the great new products shown below in our newsletter.  Perhaps a tutorial on how to see your savings reports in Hydrawise, or if you need some work done on your system.  Our designers and technicians are ready. Thanks again for your loyalty and support!

Computer Software Conversion

We will be converting our existing software to a new parent company this Fall. Our final data conversion is set to transfer in the middle of September, and winterization dates will be released shortly after the transfer has completed. While we are expecting a smooth transition with the system, we do anticipate that there will be obstacles and unknowns while we grow accustomed to the new features the program has to offer. We ask for your patience and kindness as we work diligently to create a better overall platform for technician reviews, billing and scheduling services for you. If you have any concerns or questions regarding the transition, please feel free to contact our office 1(800) 210-3181

SEASONAL ADJUST SITE VISITS AVAILABLE

While seasons progress and landscapes develop, it is important to make adjustments throughout your system to ensure an optimally watered lawn & garden.

Our Seasonal Adjust Site visit allows for just that! Whether it is adjusting sprinkler heads or modifying run times for the hotter Summer months, we are happy to get a tech onsite and enhance your system’s performance.

GET TO KNOW THE TECHNICIANS – EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHTS

Jim Cassano

Jim has been a member of the Wilde Companies family for over 15 years. His nickname around the shop is “The Closer” due to his wealth of knowledge and ability to leave every site better than it was when he arrived. He has held almost every position in the company; from install, to service, to landscape lighting specialist and finally residing with a title of Territory Director. Jim’s wonderful heart has taken in and fostered a countless number of children in the foster care system, and he and his wife have been named the Massachusetts Foster Parents of the Year twice! He loves taking care of his garden in his spare time, and is always certain to share his pickings with his friends in the office (especially the hot peppers!)

Andrew Whipple –

Andrew, or “Whip” as he is better known throughout the field, is in the midst of his 5th season with Wilde. He came to us straight out of high school and is one of our hardest working employees on staff. He is always willing to try something new, has a passion for operating machinery, and has genuinely restored our faith in the next generation’s work force. His desire to learn and work hard has promoted him quickly throughout our company. In the Spring and Fall he can be found on our service teams, but in the Summer he leads our install crew to success! Whip is one of the few employees that stays on through the Winter to help with our Snow Division, and is someone we can always count on to show up. His pride and joy is his Ford Pickup truck, that you can hear coming from a mile away, and can almost always find him under the hood of!

Rain Sensors are great, Smart Controllers are GREATER!

We have seen amazing water conservation results over this watering season with the plentiful amounts of rainfall we have received. With our Hydrawise Smart Controller, many clients have seen a 50-70% water savings on their controller’s usage. With the constantly increasing town and city water bills, a Hydrawise Smart Controller can pay for itself in the first quarter’s water savings alone!

Not only does this controller modify it’s run times based on real time weather data, but it allows you the ability to control it remotely from anywhere in the world when connected to WIFI. This ensures your lawn doesn’t burn out while away on vacation, or no need to reschedule the landscapers due to a wet lawn when you can simply suspend the system for any number of days needed.

Our controller’s speak for themselves, and the clients who have taken the leap swear by them. If you are interested in learning more, please contact our office for a quote on upgrading today!

AUTUMN LAWN CARE TIPS

– The best time to sow grass seed is late summer to early fall when the temperature is more consistent and many competitive weeds are at the end of their life cycle.

– Make sure your mower blades are sharp. Sharp blades prevent the grass from tearing which can result in brown tips

– Aerate! Compacted grass does not grow well – contact our office before hand for a technician to come out and flag your sprinkler heads to prevent punctures in the lines!

– Cut your lawn short before the winter to prevent vole/mice damage (approx. 2 inches).
